It really was pretty great - the combo of the compression and the cold really was effective. You can also get a ($55) carrying case for the cold cell so that you can bring it with you to runs! It really reminded me of getting my knee iced in physical therapy - it was very similar to that, and super effective. I'm not sure it's worth $85, but it's probably worth quite a bit more than just peas or a baggie of ice cubes! (or even my blue gel pack.) you may not have a problem with the extra cold that I did.
