I Graduated!
Today was my very last swimming lesson. My wonderful coach pronounced me graduated! My freestyle is now in pretty good shape, and I can even kind of do the breast & back strokes! I feel a lot more comfortable in the pool, and am ready to keep at it! I just wish I had my own lap pool in the basement, but for some reason, the architect refuses to put one in for me.
I know that if I can keep at it (which I will!) I can shave a significant amount of time off my swim in the sprint triathlon I’m doing in June.
I have always enjoyed swimming, but because I never lived in a town with a pool, I really didn’t get a chance to practice much growing up. My technique wasn’t very efficient. I was going slow and getting tired! Now I am a faster swimmer and a more efficient swimmer! Now that I have my technique down, I am going to start working on endurance (not as much speed, as I think that will come).
And now that I’m such an awesome swimmer, I am expecting that, any minute now, I will look like this.

YES!!! That’s awesome. I know how you feel. I didn’t grow up as a “swimmer” either. I knew *how* to swim and I went to the lake all summer long, but technically, I didn’t know a thing. It’s awesome when you can begin to master something. Keep it up.
I totally hope to look like that……..someday….

You did great and have totally improved. I have NO DOUBT that your swim time will be faster in June.

stick with it and congrats. swimming on a regular basis is awesome. i am well on my way to having that womans body…. well you know.
quick swimming motivational note: my jeans didn’t fit right recently. i’m going to blog about it tonight. but they were too loose, so i went to try on some new jeans and had dropped to a size I have not seen since before I was married 11 years ago. I thought it was a fluke, so i went to another store and bought another pair @ j crew. their stuff runs small for the size. then i went to banana republic for a 3rd pair of size 34 jeans, and they were actually a little loose! a-freaking-mazing. and it’s all because of the swimming. I haven’t even lost any lbs, just inches. strange but true. the last time i wore a 34 i weight at least 50 lbs less than i do now. so keep swimming!
