Using this week’s word in a sentence requires brobdingnagian effort…

I have been reading a delightful series of books that contain numerous references to modern geekery, tons o’ references to mythology of all sorts, and a whole lot o’ big words that I have to look up! I love looking up new words (especially when “looking it up” involves highlighting it with my finger for instant dictionarying). One word I ran into over the weekend that cause me to use my finger power to pull up the dictionary app was Brobdingnagian.

Weird Word Wednesday

Brob·ding·nag·ian

\?bräb-di?-?na-g?-?n, -dig-?na-\

adjective: marked by tremendous size
noun: a giant

Origin of Brobdingnagian

Brobdingnag, imaginary land of giants in Gulliver’s Travels, by Jonathan Swift

This really was an excellent name for a band.
