Shoe Me!

Shoesday!

You guys – I think I am going to buy these:

Indigo by Clarks Buena Vista

Yay? Nay? Have I lost my mind?

Others in consideration:

Adrienne Vittadini Penn

Fossil Sasha Pump

Also – I am not usually one for animal prints, and these are totally out of my shoe-buying price range, but am I crazy to love them?

Kate Spade Jocelyn

So – thoughts? Support for my impulse to purchase pair #1? (Although I’m starting to feel pair #3 more now…..ack!)

Happy Shoesday, y’all!

Oops – I almost forgot my gratitude journal!

Gratitude Journal

November 8, 2011: I am grateful for my brand-new employee who started today, who I am hoping will help take some of the financial reporting burden off my plate & allow me to do a better job on the more big-picture things.

November 7, 2011: I am grateful for weekends and the opportunity to relax and recharge.

November 6, 2011: I am grateful for running – and grateful that I am still able to run. I am also grateful for my proximity to the most awesome running park in the history of the world: Forest Park.

November 5, 2011: I am grateful that I was able to discover enough courage to join Toastmasters. I know this sounds super cheesy, but it’s really made a HUGE difference in my life.

November 4, 2011: I am grateful for the internet, which gives me the ability to work from home, in my pajamas, this morning.

November 3, 2011: I am grateful that I have a good job that is challenging & interesting, if not necessarily catering to my life interests.

November 2, 2011: I am grateful for the architect, who is simply wonderful. He picks up the household slack when I’m busy with schoolwork, brings me chicken fingers on his way home from work, and is simply the most wonderful husband I could ask for…

November 1, 2011:  I am grateful for my (so far, knock on wood) easy and wonderful pregnancy

Shoesday – Things I Can’t Afford Edition

The title is a little bit misleading. Some of these I’m sure I could afford if I really wanted to drop a couple hundred on another pair of boots. But I don’t, so I’m declaring them out of my price range.

Christian Louboutin Miss Clichy Suede Platform Pump

How gorgeous are these? They may not be terribly practical, but maybe someday, I can own a pair of red suede platform pumps and not worry about the cost/wear….

Gucci 'Sunset' Peep Toe Platform Pump

I typically don’t like shoes that have the branding all over them, but I really like these for some reason. The stacked heel that’s so popular now makes me really happy, and I love the muted colors. So gorgeous.

Report Saco

Speaking of stacked heels – aren’t these great?

Frye Veronica Slouch

After my first pass through the shoe world for today’s post, I think I’d picked out 17 (exaggeration!) pairs of Frye boots. I did manage to narrow it down to two. I love these.

Frye Erin Riding

I really like these, too. The buckles are a nice detail.

And now, for a bit more…impractical shoes (yes, more impractical than red suede Louboutins!)…

Christian Louboutin Sequined Platform Pump

Why yes, I do need some $1700 sequined pumps…..for work….

Gucci 'Sofia' Crystal Embellished Platform Pump

And – for days that the red is just too much – maybe these slightly more understated shoes….

And of course, there are those days where work might consist of being an incredibly expensive stripper – and nothing else will do but these:

Christian Louboutin Lady Fox-Heel Platform Slingback

Awesome, right? I mean for your expensive stripper job (those bills that get stuffed into the g-string better be 100s, amiright?!)

So – happy shoesday, people!  What’s your favorite pair of “dream” shoes?  Mine are these…….

Shoesday of a different kind

Now that I have the results of the last poll, I’m ready to buy my brown shoes. Those might be the last shoes I buy myself for quite awhile. It seems that I may need to switch my focus a bit. So, in no particular order – here are some of the shoes I’m thinking about buy in the next few months:

Umi Cassia Mary Jane

adidas Campus 2 - Disney Pluto Sneaker

PUMA Soleil Cat Nubuck

adidas Gazelle - pretty much the best shoe name ever, amiright?

Converse Chuck Taylor Crib Sneaker

(Thanks for the big reveal inspiration, friends!)

To answer the questions that I have gotten so far:

  1. Yes, I’m serious
  2. No, I am not a fucking liar
  3. April 2
  4. Yes, I can prove it, but don’t you think that’s a weird request?
  5. Yes, it was on purpose
  6. We don’t know yet, but we’re going to find out the first week of November

So – for everyone I didn’t get to ahead of time, I’m sorry you’re finding out this way! You are still super important to me! Also, although this is probably not the last time that I will feature tiny shoes on the blog (because they are seriously that cute), that will not be a regular occurrence.

Happy Shoesday!

Three (3!) Things Thursday!

1. Have I told you how much I love fall? Because I do. I love the cool overnights, and the changing leaves, and the peeks of sunlight, and the fog. I need to get a picture of the view I have every morning on my drive to work, but unfortunately, it’s hard to take good photos while I’m driving.  However, I stole this photo from the internet, and it’s pretty damn close (except that I am typically driving OVER the bridge and not floating around underneath it).

2. I also love soup. All soups. And this time of year, when it’s time to curl up under blankets and sip cocoa and cider, I want to have soup every day. However, I hate soup from a can, and am too lazy to make soup from scratch every day. I need to find some excellent recipes that can be canned so that I can make pints and pints of soup. Doesn’t this look amazing?

3. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my Damian-ectomy. To celebrate, I wore a pair of high heeled boots for the first time in way over a year. For an entire day. And there was walking! And I didn’t want to amputate at the end of the day.

Shoesday!

At least once every few months, a shoe problem crops up. The problem is I love black shoes. LOOOOOOOOOOVE. So, when I’m shoe shopping, I buy black shoes. BUT, sometimes a girl needs a pair of brown shoes. Because I love brown clothes. And I cannot wear black shoes with brown pants. I’m pretty sure that’s even illegal in 23 states.

So – currently the only pairs of brown shoes that I own are a pair of rocket dogs that I adore (and that I desperately need to get rid of, because I wear them ALL THE TIME on the weekends, and they are falling apart), a pair of brown suede peep toes that are a bit too small for my new bigger feet (and a bit impractical for fall/winter in the Pacific NW), and a beautiful pair of Franco Sarto ankle boots that I’ve worn once, due to the fact that they are the narrowest boots in the history of the world. (I really need to go through my shoes collection and eBay some stuff.)

So – it falls on you, lovely readers! You must help me find my next pair of shoes.  I am looking at less expensive shoes, because, well, I just bought a pair of pretty expensive boots and would like my second fall purchase to be a bit on the cheaper side.

They need to be both work and play appropriate.

And, of course, they need to look awesome.

The contenders (all under $100):

Bandolino Jury 2

Fossil Sasha Pump

Fossil Maddox Flat

Naturalizer Violette

photo Romantic Soles Mada

Nine West Breyona

It turns out that finding a wide shaft (hee) knee high boot under $100 is really, really hard, so that last pair is NOT under $100….which means I probably should’ve left them off; but they were pretty! And I couldn’t!

So – opinions? Thoughts? Ballots to cast?
