Give Away Post

I have in my possession a brand-new (tags still on) women’s Pearl Izumi Optik cycling jacket, size medium. I no longer want to have this jacket in my possession.

I had, originally, purchased this jacket for myself. It is full of fanciness. It arrived in December. It didn’t fit. I put it in a box to return it. And then, a couple of days ago, I found it. Still in the box. The return tag firmly attached. And the date well out of range of the 60 day return policy.  I don’t feel like making a big deal out of it with the company, so I thought, what can I do with this jacket that won’t remind me that, short of a breast reduction, I can’t wear a size medium in this brand?

And so – I am giving it away.

There are three ways to get an entry.

1) Leave a comment here

2) Link back to me on your blog

3) Tweet about it (I’m @gazellesoncrack)  i.e. @gazellesoncrack is giving away a sweet cycling jacket. Go to http://tinyurl.com/yhmyrnc to enter. Or not-I don’t want to limit my chances.

If you do options two or three, please leave a comment to let me know. Each one of the options will get you one entry.

Contest ends at midnight (pacific time) on Sunday April 4.

Winner will drawn on Monday April 5 and announced on this blog. The winner will then have 48 hours to email me with a mailing address and then I will ship out their brand new jacket.

You can live anywhere that I can ship to (international entries allowed).

Only caveat – I am not a giant woman, although I am fairly well-endowed. I would guess that this jacket is on the smallish side of medium.

And the winner is…..

I took all the names of the people who commented on the blog and/or retweeted this contest, put them in order of their comment/retweet and then put it in the random number generator.

There were 16 total entrants. So, I went to Random.org & asked for a number between 1 & 16.

Number 10 is Laura E.

Laura – you have until noonish on Saturday to email me your mailing address. You can get in touch with me at gazellesoncrack (at) gmail.

Congratulations!

Now – what you DIDN’T know, is that there is a 2nd prize! The 2nd place winner also gets a slightly less elaborate gift basket – and the second place winner is:

CilleyGirl! Congrats! And, since you do not live far away, if you don’t mind, I’ll present your gift basket in person. If I work REALLY hard, it will be ready by Sunday morning & I can give it to you at the race.

So – congrats, winner! And Laura – please contact me as soon as possible.

Holiday Gift Basket Giveaway

Due to the success of last year’s holiday gift basket give-away, I’m bringing it back again.

If you leave a comment on this post between now & December 9 at 11:59 PM (Pacific time), you will be entered to win a fabulous winter holiday gift basket. It is fabulous because I say so, obviously. It is a sampling of the fantastic nearly free, but still classy gifts that I will be gifting those who usually get gifts. You can keep the wonderfulness for yourself, or you can specify a recipient (thus cutting down on your gift budget this year).

Items may include: bath salts, pumpkin butter, homemade vanilla, cookies, and more! (I’m still working out the details.)

The winner will be announced on December 10, and the gift basket will be mailed out on 12/14.

Also – if you want to score a bonus entry, announce the contest on twitter (making sure to reference @gazellesoncrack holiday giveaway). There is no limit to who can enter, so even if you live in a far away land (like Canada, or Afghanistan), as long as you have a valid mailing address, I will send you the basket.

Good luck!

Product Review

A couple of weeks ago,  I was contacted by Rick Kroon at Lynx Performance Technologies.  He asked me to test & review the Lynx Performance Grips – from the website:

Designed by elite trainers, Lynx Performance Grips provide ultimate grip control and superior protection where you need it – in your GRIP ZONE®. Adjust Performance grips to your exercise-specific grip zone (push vs. pull) and maximize your workout.

I used these three time – and I have to tell you that they were pretty fantastic. Although I’m not sure that my workout was maximized, I am pretty sure that they protected my hands really well. I always forget to take my wedding ring off before lifting weights, and usually end up with a blister under my ring (not to mention other almost-callouses elsewhere on my hands).

After using the performance grips for the last 8 days (three sessions – two at the gym with machines & free weights, including the pull-up assist, the Smith machine, and bench press; and one at home with just small hand weights), I don’t have any blisters or callouses.

They didn’t seem to make me stronger, but they did make the workout easier. They stayed put in my hands – no slipping or anything – and fit in the cup holder of the cardio equipment that I used before my weights session.

In short – this is the first product I’ve reviewed on this blog – and it was a great one to start off with (I was so afraid that I was going to HATE them, and then I’d have to either pretend this never happened, or say mean things, and I don’t like being mean).

Also, I have an extra set of Performance Grips  to give away. To win, leave a comment on this post by 5 PM (pacific time) Friday & tell me about your weight routine (or lack thereof).  The random number generator will pull a number out of its virtual hat, and I’ll notify the winner via email & announce the winner on Saturday.

Now get out there & strength train!

We have a winner!

The winner of the fabulous gift basket is The Ambitious One.  I used a random number generator & commenter #5 came out the winner.  She has already been contacted, and I will post a picture of the fabulous prizes on Monday.

Because I am extraordinarily generous, there is also a 2nd place winner, who will get a smaller sampling of the fabulous prizes – and that is Ginger! Please email me your name & address and an exciting holiday package will be sent to you on Monday!

(In other exciting news, I actually ran 3 miles this morning – go me!)
