(Spring Trends in) PORN!!!

Today we are looking at Spring Trends according to Nordstroms.

They list five.

1. Huaraches

2. Gladiators (blech)

3. Tribal Influence (blech)

4. Bold Straps

5. Studs and Stones (hmmmm….I reserve immediate judgment)

So far, I am not impressed with spring trends at Nordstroms. BUT, I will share examples of each of these shoes – feel free to weigh in with your opinions – and if you could give a rousing defense of Gladiator sandals, that would be interesting. :)

1. Huaraches

These are, I think the cutest ones (but you all know of my weakness for wedges….you can follow the link above to see more shoes, if you so desire).  Also, they are ‘muffin’ sandals. And who doesn’t like muffins?

2. Gladiator

I’ll be honest – I am not a fan of the gladiator style. I think it’s too much, it can turn even the most delicate of ankles into a cankle, and quite frankly, most of them are hideous. BUT, these are the nicest ones, in my opinion. Although that’s not saying much. And I’m not sure how I feel about the speckles – looks like someone’s kid left their crayons & the shoes too close to the heater.

Of course, there are these, if that’s what you’re into. Because who doesn’t need a pair of gladiator booties?

3. Tribal Influence

I’m not sure why I had an immediate ‘blech’ feeling. Some of these aren’t so bad.

Of course, some of them are – these hail from the tribe of bad taste.

4. Bold Straps

I like a strappy sandal, as long as it’s not too over-the-top gladiator style. (Although I don’t necessarily hate gladiators. Some of them are quite fetching in their cute leather skirts.) These shoes are kinda awesome, actually.

5. Studs & Stones

There are many interesting choices here. And by interesting, I mean amusing. Tell me – and I promise not to judge you harshly, would you wear these:

All is not lost in the world of studs & stones, though.  In fact – these are quite fetching:

So my porn peeps, what say you? Am I smoking crack or is spring smoking crack?

Also – if you were had tickets to Oprah, and were going to wear a pair of hot jeans such as these:

What would you do for shoes? I would recommend a pair of equally hot boots with as much heel as one can comfortably stand in for a decent period of time (as long as they aren’t high enough to give a high-water look)….any differing opinions? A fellow reader needs your help! (I hope the jeans are similar to what you were thinking….)

PORN!!!

Sorry for the one-day delay. It makes me sad when shoe porn Wednesdays are late. I have many excuses, but none of them good enough to account for the fact that I have let you all down.

First – for Carrie. (This makes me happy since when we met, I immediately insulted her choice of footwear. I’m classy like that.) She requested “a pair of pumps that look awesome but don’t kill [her] feet, aren’t so high [she] risk[s] falling off of them and are versatile enough to wear with jeans.”  In fact, these might also work for Snowdance who asked for shoes for  “a new public transportation commuter who needs to balance suits and business attire with comfortable shoes made for lots of walking.”

Neither lady mentioned any price requirements, but as always, I try to keep everything under $100. In fact, my most comfortable pairs of pumps were all around $50 (I’m sure if I could afford Louboutins, that they would win, but I can’t.)

Anyways. Comfy cute pumps with a mid heel that look good dressed up or down. (As always, click on the shoe photos to browse & buy.)

The thicker heel adds stability that the height might take away. If you have doubts about wearing heels, always start with a thicker heel to get used to the way it makes your feet feel before switching to stilettos.

My two favorite most comfortable pairs of pumps are Kenneth Cole Reactions – including my awesome stilettos (pair #3).

These are on sale on PiperLime right now – but only in brown & only in two sizes.

All of these shoes are under $100 and are brands that either I can personally vouch for their comfort or people I know have vouched for the brand comfort (in the case of the Anne Kleins at the end).  I generally go for a 3+ inch heel, but these are all under three inches. The only thing I would say is that sometimes Steve Maddens (in my experience) run a little narrow, so if that’s a concern, try to find the shoes either in person or from a site that has free shipping both ways….and always shop around. The Anne Kleins are in sale in a size 7.5 (or something that’s not a size 6) on Amazon for $30, I think.

I’ve had great experience with Zappos, Piperlime & Endless.

Next week – we look at other special requests & talk more about shoes that are both cute AND comfy.

Feedback? Are these what you had in mind? Let me know if I didn’t meet your expectations – and I’ll do better next time!
